NH Herbal Network & NOFA-NH Herb and Garlic Day September 26, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — sageliving @ 8:00 pm

Fall is upon us! Please join Rebecca at NOFA-NH and the New Hampshire Herbal Network’s first annual Herb & Garlic Day! Massabesic Audobon Society is hosting the event on Saturday, October 10th from 9 until 3. Rebecca will be leading an herb walk on local medicinal plants as well as vending. Visit NOFA-NH’s Website for more information. Preregistration is available.

The fields are starting to brown up, and the last of the comfrey has come inside to be made into oil.  Time to start digging the roots soon; Aralia is ready for bringing in, and Barberry and Japanese Knotweed are next.  Rebecca has been harvesting the highly invasive Autumn Olives for a delicious jam as well.  Keep an eye out for new batches of product and upcoming fall events!

Updates to the website! November 10, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — sageliving @ 3:33 pm

Hey, all!

Well, I’ve closed the shop and moved home.  Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we are not able to make the renovations to the house nearly as soon as we had expected, so Sage Living will remain (for all intents and purposes) an online-only entity for several months to come.  I’ll be doing a couple of craft fairs over the holiday season, but other than that, the web is where Sage Living is at.

I’ve begun making changes to the page, getting everything transferred over to the new style.  So far, the bulk herbs and tea blends are switched, and several tea blends have been added as well.  QA is always a concern of mine, so if you have any recommendations, please let me know!

Hope fall is being wonderful to you; it’s gorgeous here!

Green Blessings,

Rebecca

Just back from the mountain! August 4, 2008

Such a refreshing weekend!  I was at Sage Mountain, studying with Matthew Wood this weekend, and wow what an experience!

We were supposed to be covering the nervous system, and we did get around to it on Sunday, but we learned SO much more than that!  He covered tissue states, the respiratory system, lots of stories about Agrimony and Black Walnut, and a little bit about pulses, too!

Sleeping out was a bit difficult; it rained both nights.  Thankfully, the tent was very waterproof; the only water that came in was from my feet.

We had lightning, too!  It hit out in the garden (I saw it as I was walking up the driveway…scary!), in the “plaza”, and behind the bath house.  2 folks felt zaps, one through the computer, and one…well, I’m not quite sure how Amanda felt hers, but goodness!

Matthew didn’t fall asleep in class, either :-P   What a great weekend!

Off to The Mountain! August 1, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — sageliving @ 2:44 pm

Sage Living will be closed this weekend so I can attend the first Sage Mt. weekend of this month.  We’re focussing on the nervous system this time, so lots of nervines, calming herbs and rejuvenatives!  I’ve heard that David Hoffmann won’t be making out as scheduled, and I’ve heard a rumor about who’s coming out instead, so we’ll see who it actually turns out to be.  No matter what, I know that this weekend will be fantastic!

Don’t forget, the Moving Sale starts on Tuesday!  See you then!

Good news, a move is in store! July 29, 2008

Hello, all!

As many of you know, I have been working for several years at opening a healing center close to my land in Boscawen. The time has come for me to put more effort into making that move.

While I do not have a re-opening date on the calendar yet, I am announcing that I will be closing the doors to the shop in Concord on Saturday, August 16th at 4 PM. There will be a clearance sale starting next Tuesday, the 5th, and while percentages off will vary, everything except consignment items will be marked down.

Most retail (candles, tea pots, incense, heat packs, bags, cards, Menus & Music, home décor in general) will be 50% off. Crystals, books, jewelry and tea supplies will be 20% off. All Kestrel Crossings products, including the bulk herbs and essential oils, will be 10% off. The more you move, the less I need to truck with me!

Between the Concord store closing and the new practice opening, I will continue to take clients over the phone, and the webstore will remain up and running (and will hopefully receive a makeover during the hiatus!). As always, I am happy to ship products out to those needing them.

Rest assured, Sage Living will re-open in the not-too-distant future! We will be a bit further off the beaten path, but we will soon have gardens to play in, woods to walk in, and space more conducive to healing and learning!

I hope to see you all during this time of change, and am grateful for the friends and clients I’ve met in my 3 years in downtown Concord.

Hey, folks!

We’ll be doing an Inventory Clearance Sale this weekend as part of Market Days. Basically, anything that isn’t handmade is on sale. Books are 20% off, candles, incense, and crystals are 30% off, and teapots, garden kits, Eco-chic bags, spun bamboo, Stolat Organics, Just Naturals/Grayson’s products, Aurora glass and non-consignment Jewlery are all 50% off.

Market Days runs tomorrow through Saturday. We will be open our normal business hours, 11-6 on Thursday and Friday, and 10-4 on Saturday. Hope to see you then!

Also, we got a brief mention on GreenSceneUSA.com as part of a writeup on Green Concord. The article is basically a zip trip through the members of the group and is focussed on bringing in folks from out of town. Check it out here: THE ARTICLE!

Hope you’re having a good week, and staying in the shade!

Taking a weekend off… July 3, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — sageliving @ 5:14 pm

In honor of the holiday, Sage Living will be closed Friday and Saturday of this week. We will re-open on Tuesday at 11.

For those of you looking to harvest, St. Johns Wort is at its prime right now; head out and find a stand, pluck the blossoms and put them into a jar, and fill it up with oil. Within a couple of weeks, you’ll have a lovely red brew for cuts, scrapes, burns, etc.

Have a great weekend!

Herbs in the news… June 5, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — sageliving @ 9:06 pm

Picked up Body + Soul magazine today (yes, I still pay for items printed on paper) to read an article on the “30 Best Herbs for Your Health!” and who do I see listed as the authors? My mentor Rosemary Gladstar, whose advanced program I’m currently enjoying thoroughly, and Tania Hannan, one of my fellow students. Turns out she’s an associate editor for the magazine.

It’s a great article, and wouldn’t you know it, I have all of the herbs listed here in store! I strongly recommend folks picking the magazine up, the article has some good basic info.

In other news, Mother Earth News to be specific, is another article I’m happy to see, “Homegrown Medicine: Explore the many benefits of planting medicinal herbs.” They include a list of 30 herbs as well, though I’m missing two on this list (Grindelia isn’t really used all that often, and pipsissewa is nearing endangerment, and both have more common substitutions that I use), and they make note of plants that are at-risk according to United Plant Savers.

I’ll have the articles on hand at the shop if you don’t want to buy the magazines; good info to keep on hand!

New Items and Continued Customer Appreciation! May 14, 2008

Filed under: Shop News — sageliving @ 6:30 pm

Hi, all!

Those of you who have had time to venture outside know that it’s a beautiful day out there!  This morning I played with the Comfrey and Angelica, and tended to some new little plants I’m thrilled to get, Bloodroot!  Such gorgeous little flowers, with such big medicine in the roots.  Bloodroot is endangered, and I am honored to have the opportunity to grow some at home.

At the shop, we just got in some posters and cards from local artist Janina Lamb.  With themes like “Nurture Nature”, the poem “Desiderata”, and her beautiful presentation of “The Pledge of Allegiance” (to the Earth!), I’m sure you’ll love her artwork as much as I did when I first saw the Earth Pledge 2 years ago.

We’re continuing the Customer Appreciation/Spring Cleaning sale through the end of the month.  Just swing by the shop, spend $10, and pick a flower to see what your free “Thank You” gift is!

Hope you manage to get outside and enjoy some of this spectacular weather!

Green Blessings,

Rebecca & David
